Hi, my name is Gavin and I'm two years old. I live in Windsor, Nova Scotia with my parents, Jackie and Trevor, and my six-year-old sister, Gabrielle. Together, with the help of many doctors and nurses, as well as the support and prayers from all of you, we are fighting for my life.

On Friday, October 3rd, I was diagnosed with Neuroblastoma, a type of cancer. The only reason the doctors discovered my cancer was because I had a cold that wasn't going away. My mom was very persistent in taking me to the doctor, knowing there was something more wrong than just a simple cold.

The doctor sent me to the local hospital to get an x-ray and I went by ambulance to the Halifax IWK Children's Hospital where they did a CT scan and found a 10cm tumor pushing on my right kidney. I have been in the hospital ever since.

I have already had my first two rounds of chemotherapy, as well as numerous blood transfusions. I have a large tube that was surgically placed between my ribs to help drain the fluid caused by the tumour in order to help me breathe better.

I will be travelling back and forth from Nova Scotia to Toronto throughout my treatment in order to get the best care possible. My treatment will include extensive chemotherapy, the removal of healthy stem cells to be placed back into me once my treatments are complete, radiation, and surgery. At this time, it looks like it will be at least a year before I will be finished with these treatments. With many prayers and hope on my side, I am hoping to recover to lead a healthy and active life.

My family and I really appreciate the thought, support, and generosity of the people of Debco during this very difficult time. With your help, I will continue my treatments in both Nova Scotia and Toronto and I will keep fighting towards the road to recovery. From myself and my family, we want to say thank you from the bottom of our hearts.
